What is an americano coffee?
The americano is a popular order in most coffee shops, as it’s easy to order, and it’s also one of the fastest drinks baristas can make, especially if you are running late! An americano coffee is made with hot water with a double shot espresso on the top.
This one is super quick and simple, it’s made with just 5 ingredients (coffee, ice, vanilla syrup, and creamy plant based milk).
Delicious and refreshing, nothing is as good as iced coffee on a hot summer day right?
Ingredients for an Iced Vanilla White Americano:
Coffee: The first place to start with any kind of coffee is… good coffee. As in, good beans. Our favourite beans are from a roasters local to us.
Ice: Lots! For a better tasting drink, make ice using filtered water.
Water: Chilled & filtered is best.
Plant Milk: Choose a creamy one. Oat, Cashew, Rice or even Pea milk work well.
Step by Step instructions:
Add ice to chosen glass
In a separate heatproof bowl/ cup dissolve the syrup in the hot coffee
Pour the cool filtered water over the ice in the cup, leaving enough room for the coffee and (if using) the milk
Pour the espresso over the water, then pour in the milk or dairy free cream
Tips to achieve the perfect Vanilla Iced White americano:
Don’t pour hot coffee into a cup of ice, the ice will melt too quickly, leaving a drink that’s too watered down. Instead, make sure to use coffee that has cooled down.
If the iced coffee is too strong, dilute it by adding cold water.
Dissolve the syrup in the coffee. There is nothing worse than syrup sitting at the bottom of the cup!
If you’re feeling fancy and you have a milk frother whisk you can whisk / whip the milk for an americano with a frothy top.
Questions you may have:
Is there caffeine in this drink?
Yes, there’s caffeine in this recipe, but it can be easily swapped out for decaf coffee / espresso.
